Course Description                                                                          

 

The course is a supplement to The Americans textbook. The course includes videos, quizzes, exams, that will help students learn American history and earn a better grade. The course effectively teaches all the concepts students need to know to improve grades for American History (Common Core) and Advanced Placement (AP) courses.

Learning Outcomes

 

Upon completion of this course students are expected to be able to:

 

1. Students should be able to use the concepts to which they are introduced to facilitate Knowledge and Comprehension through memorizing and understanding course materials

 

2. The student should be able to understand and describe the basic concepts of the topics covered as this will serve as the basis for application and analysis required for a more advanced course of study in AP courses.


Teacher Objectives

 

·         Improve student’s understanding of American History as an integrated study of the Social Sciences requirements

·         Improve student’s use of English language skills use Bloom’ Taxonomy for Social Sciences; and Writing using Bloom’s Taxonomy

·         Prepare students for the Common Core and Advanced Placement exams and undergraduate majors such Political Science, History, Economics, and other Social Sciences.

 

Teaching Methods       (Students should be able to:)

 

Teaching strategies will comprise a short videos, mix of lectures, and individual exercises, that will focus the following skills: list, recite, define, name, match, quote, recall, identify, label, recognize, describe, explain, paraphrase, restate, give original examples of, discuss, Interpret- clarifying, paraphrasing, representing, and translating information, Exemplify-Illustrating, providing examples of concepts or information, Summarize-generalizing or summarizing information obtained from a source, predicting outcomes based on information presented, Compare-contrasting, etc.
